We are glad that Downtown3rd was the official bus stop for EDC for Downtown Las Vegas! There were people from all over the nation and from other countries that came to visit. Everyone that stopped by had some pretty eye-catching and unique outfits. Can’t wait until next year to see all the visitors again!

“The Aviation” – A Classic Cocktail Revival
“The Aviation”
Ingredients:
•2oz gin (Plymouth)
•3/4oz Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed!)
•1/2oz. Maraschino Liqueur (Luxardo)
•1/4oz. simple syrup
•2 dashes crème de viollette (Rothman and Winter)
In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients, then add ice and shake. Strain into a cocktail coupe and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

“The Aviation” is a classic cocktail created by, the head bartender of the Hotel Wallick in New York during the early twentieth century, Hugo Ensslin. The drink first appeared in print in Ensslin’s 1916 Recipes for Mixed Drinks.
Like most recipes of the era, “The Aviation” has been tinkered with and modified throughout the years. Up until recently, most Aviation recipes omitted crème de viollette from the recipe due to the liqueurs lack of supply. Luckily for us though, and due to the current cocktail revival, there are a handful of liquor brands making crème de viollette available again.
I’ve modified the version I serve at the MOB Bar to be a tad bit sweeter for today’s taste buds.
